Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of SplitVocals (“SplitVocals,” “we,” “us”), a web application available at splitvocals.com that separates an audio file you provide into stems (vocals, drums, bass, and other). By opening or using SplitVocals, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What the service does

SplitVocals offers two ways to separate a track:

• Free, on-device separation. The default mode runs an AI model entirely inside your web browser, using WebGPU or WebAssembly on your own device. It does not require an account, does not upload your audio to a server, and has no usage limit.
• HD separation (optional, signed-in users). If you choose “Separate in HD,” the file you selected is uploaded to our private storage and processed by a higher quality model on a GPU server we operate. The results are available to you for about 60 minutes and are then deleted, together with the uploaded file. HD separation consumes one HD credit per track unless you are a Pro subscriber.

2. Accounts

You can use the free separator without an account. An account (currently created by signing in with Google) is required for HD separation, credits, and subscriptions. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your Google account secure. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms. You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing support@splitvocals.com.

3. Your responsibility for the audio you process

You are solely responsible for the audio files you separate using SplitVocals. By using the service, you represent and warrant that you own the audio you provide, or that you otherwise have the legal right to process it, create derivative separations from it (vocals, drums, bass, and other stems, and mixdowns of those stems), and use the output for your intended purpose.

In free mode, SplitVocals has no visibility into the files you process, because processing happens entirely on your device. In HD mode, your file passes through our servers only for the purpose of running the separation; we do not review, listen to, or moderate it, and it is deleted automatically as described in Section 1.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• process audio that you do not own or do not have the necessary rights or permission to process, or use the service in any way that infringes another party’s copyright, trademark, or other rights, or that violates applicable law;
• use the service to circumvent digital rights management or any other technical protection measure, or to extract audio from a source you are not permitted to copy;
• access the service by automated means (bots, scripts, scrapers), share or resell account access, or attempt to obtain HD credits or Pro features you have not paid for;
• upload files that are not audio, that contain malicious code, or that are intended to disrupt or overload the service;
• interfere with, reverse engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service, its servers, or the accounts of other users.

5. Use of the separated output

You may use the stems and mixdowns SplitVocals produces for personal or commercial purposes, provided you have the necessary rights to the original audio as described in Section 3. We claim no ownership over, and place no additional restriction on, the output files beyond the rights you already hold in the source material. We do not review your output, so we cannot and do not guarantee that any particular use of it is lawful — that determination depends on your rights to the underlying recording.

6. Credits, HD Pack, and Pro subscription

Each new account receives one complimentary HD credit, which does not expire. Additional credits and Pro features are sold as follows; current prices are shown on the Pricing page and may change for future purchases:

• HD Pack — a one-time purchase of HD credits. Credits are consumed one per HD separation and do not expire.
• Pro — a monthly or yearly subscription that includes unlimited HD separation, six-stem output, batch processing, lossless FLAC export, and an ad-free experience for as long as the subscription is active. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.

A credit is charged when an HD job is accepted for processing. If the job fails for a reason on our side, the credit is returned to your balance automatically. Credits and subscriptions are personal to your account and cannot be transferred.

7. Payments, cancellation, and refunds

Purchases are processed by our payment partner Creem, acting as merchant of record; your payment details are collected by Creem under its own terms and are never stored by SplitVocals. Prices are shown in US dollars and may be subject to local taxes added at checkout.

You can cancel a Pro subscription at any time from your account page. Cancellation stops future renewals; your Pro features remain active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and no partial refund is issued for the remaining period. An HD Pack can be refunded within 14 days of purchase if none of its credits have been used. Where consumer law in your country gives you additional rights, those rights are not affected by this section. To request a refund, email support@splitvocals.com with your order number.

8. Stored content

In free mode, audio files, separated stems, and any settings you choose exist only in your browser’s memory and local cache for the duration of your session (and, for the AI model file itself, in your browser’s cache for faster future use). In HD mode, the uploaded file and its results are stored in private cloud storage for about 60 minutes and then deleted; we keep a record of the job (file name, size, status, and timestamps) for accounting and abuse prevention, but not the audio. HD results are not shared, published, or made available at a public link. See our Privacy Policy for details.

9. Service provided “as is”

SplitVocals is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the separation quality will meet any particular standard, that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will remain available at any given time. Separation quality depends heavily on the source audio and the AI model’s limitations, and results may vary from track to track.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SplitVocals and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or, if you have paid nothing, to the greatest extent permitted by law.

11. Changes to the service or these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of SplitVocals at any time, and we may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date on this page, and, for changes that affect paid features, by notice to the email address on your account. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by generally applicable law without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent permitted in your jurisdiction. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
